Mountain, hill, velleys, deserts and plateaus are different landfroms. These landfrom are called physical features. A map that shows these features is called a physical map. Since India is a big country, it has a variety  of physical features. These features keep changing a the  we move from one part of the country to another part India has been divided into six main physical regions the norththern mountain, the northern plains the southern plateaus, the great Indian Desert, the  coastal plains.

THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS 

TO the north of india stand mighty Himalayas . these moumtain range are so high and so cold that some of the peaks wre always covered with snow . In fact ,the words 'HIMALAYAS' Itself means 'the home of snow '.  
 Mountain Everest ,in Nepal is  the highest peak in the himalayas as wellas the world .many rivers such as the Ganga ,Sutluj  ,yamuna   and Bramputra. have their origin in the himalayas.    

The Northern plains 

to the south of the himaiayas are the Northern plains .rivers likes the Ganga and Yamuna flow through these plains .these rivers bring alluviable soil and make the land fertile. many types of crops are grown here. in facts ,the northern plains are the measure agricultural regions of india. that is why these plains are called the 'food  bowl of india'. this region is densely populated. 

The Southern Pleateau 

a pleatue is an area of flat land that is higher  than the land around it .A pensinsula is a land from that reaches out into the sea it is surrounded by water on three sides.most of the southern plateau . it is known as the southern pleatue or the deccan plateau.   physical features of india
